How To Calculate The Main Bar And Distribution Bar

What Is The Main Bar

The main bar is all time on the bottom of all bars. The main bar is parallel to the short bar it is also called the short bar. the main bar is used for the transfer of the load to the bottom. That’s why this bar is all time is used for short bars.

What Is The Distribution Bar

Distribution is the all-time install on the top of the main bar, this bar is also called a long bar. This bar is installed on the long side of the slab or any concrete foundation. the main purpose of this bar is to resist the shear stress and prevent cracks and transfer the stress to the main bar.

How To Calculate The Main Bar And Distribution Bar

We calculate the main bar and distribution bar with the help of some given data from any slab or reinforcement concrete. In this article, I will calculate the length of these bars in the foundation with given some dimension.

Given the Data

length of the foundation = 3000mm=3m

width of the foundation= 1800mm=1.8m

Concrete cover of the foundation=75mm

Spacing between rebar=150mm

Solution

Main Bar

Distribution Bar

Main Bar

Main Bar = length of the foundation -2 CC ÷ Spacing +1

Main Bar = 3000-2(75)  ÷  150 +1

Main Bar = 20 Number of The Main Bar

Distribution Bar

Distribution Bar = width of the foundation – 2 CC  ÷ Spacing +1

Distribution Bar = 1800 -2(75) ÷ 150 +1

Distribution Bar = 12 Number of The Distribution Bar
