Calculate The Anchor Bolt For Octagonal Foundation

How To Calculate The Anchor Bolt For The Octagonal Foundation

An Octagonal Foundation refers to a structural base or footing This is geometrically shaped like an octagon, a polygon with eight sides and eight angles. The design of an octagonal foundation is based on principles of geometry and structural engineering, aiming to distribute the weight of the building evenly across its surface area. How To Calculate The Anchor Bolt For The Octagonal Foundation

Uses of Octagonal Foundation

This type of foundation is utilized in various architectural and engineering contexts to provide stability and support to structures built above it. This foundation is used for verticle vessel vertical columns or tanks. The construction of an octagonal foundation typically begins with site preparation, including excavation and leveling of the ground. Reinforcement materials such as steel bars or mesh may be added to enhance the foundation’s strength and durability.

How To Calculate The Anchor Bolt For The Octagonal Foundation

We will discuss how to find the coordinates of anchor bolts for octagonal foundations with the help of some given data. given data means the center point coordinates are given.

The formula for calculating the Coordinates for octagonal foundations

Easting =  sin∅ x radius +center point Easting

Northing = cos∅ x radius +center point Northing

Given data

Radius of Foundation = Dia / 2 = 1750 / 2 = 875

Easting of center point = 61554.492

Northing of center point = 44736.450

Number of bolt = 16

Angles Anchor Bolt C/C = 22.5º

Solution

Angles Anchor Bolt C/C = 360º / Number of Bult

Angles Anchor Bolt C/C =  360/16 = 22.5º

The angle of the first anchor bolt = Angles Anchor Bolt C/C  / 2

The angle of the first anchor bolt = 22.5º / 2 = 11.25º

The First Anchor bolt Coordinates

Easting =  sin∅ x radius +center point Easting

Northing = cos∅ x radius +center point Northing

Easting  = sin (11.25) x 0.875 +  61554.492

Easting = 0.1707+ 61554.492 = 61554.663

Northing = cos (11.25) x 0.875 + 44736.450

Northing  = 0.858+44736.450 = 44737.3087

The 2nd Anchor bolt Coordinates

Now the 2nd anchor bolt is angle is 22.50º + First anchor bolt’s angle is 11.25 = 22.50+11.25=33.75º

Easting =  sin(33.75) x 0.875 + 61554.492

Easting =  0.486 + 61554.492 = 61554.978

Northing = cos (33.5) x 0.875 + 44736.450

Northing = 0.727+ 44736.450 = 44737.177

Now others all anchor to find the same procedure and formula

The 3rd Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =33.75+22.5 =56.25º

The 4th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =56.25º+22.50 = 78.75º

The 5th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =78.75º+22.50 = 101.25º

The 6th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =101.25º + 22.50 = 123.75º

The 7th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle = 175.25º + 22.50 = 1146.25º

The 8th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =146.25º + 22.50 =  168.75º

The 9th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =168.75º + 22.50 = 191.25º

The 10th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =191.25º + 22.50 =213.75º

The 11th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =213.75º + 22.50 = 236.25º

The 12th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =236.25º + 22.50 = 258.75º

The 13th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =258.75º + 22.50 = 281.25º

The 14th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =281.25º + 22.50 = 303.75º

The 15th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =303.75º + 22.50 = 326.25º

The 16th Anchor bolt Coordinates

Use the angle =326.25º + 22.50 = 348.75º
